The pattern is called Mystic Light, by Anna
Dalvi . She is one of my favorite lace designers.
Completely ignoring the bit where the pattern called
for fingering weight yarn and 4.5mm needles, I used
something like 508 yards (by weight) of a 1060 yard
skein on 3.5mm needles. The yarn is called "Fina"
and is a 100% spun silk, 2 ply laceweight from an
independent dyer who sells her yarn at Kirkwood Knittery.
(Not to be confused with Alpaca with a Twist's laceweight,
"Fino").
The final size is 66" wingspan x 33" height.
I used rather a lot of silver-lined 8/0 seed beads
from Ladybug Beads. The pattern did not call for beads,
but I felt that such a light yarn needed them else
it wouldn't drape well. They were put onto individual
stitches using a size 12 steel crochet hook.
I have also done a shawlette modification of this
pattern, which used approx. 250 yards on 3.5mm needles.

This was a kit I bought at a Stitches Midwest from
Irene York, formerly of the Knitting Basket, in Lake
Tahoe, CA. She studied mitered knitting under
Horst Schulz and then came up with her own patterns
and kits. I believe she sold the store and has
retired by now. It was a mixed variety of yarn
that she put together, some cotton, some rayon ribbon
and some rayon metallic. |

The
pattern is a modified NHM#5 from Selbuvotter by Terri
Shea, up-sized from a child's pattern. Yarn
is Cascade 220, worked on #3 needle using magic loop.

The
pattern was from Creative Knitting May 2010 page 20
& 85. The pattern name is A Checked Past. The
yarn was Berroco Comfort DK-Sport weight. I got the
yarn from Hearthstone Knits. It was a fairly easy
pattern. It knitted up quickly. |
